1980 Sports

Probably the most memorable of all sporting events in 1980 was the Olympic games, and especially the U.S. Hockey Team's unlikely victory over the Soviet Union. Known as the "Miracle on Ice." is was a fitting prelude to the ultimate fall of the Soviet domination and fueled by Cold War patriotism.

Nevertheless, 1980 offered many other memorable sporting events and athletes in several sports made their mark on the sporting world during 1980.
